How Doctor’s Referral Can Help You to Receive Physical Therapy?

In New York State, you may legally receive physical therapy without a doctor’s referral for up to 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first. If treatment is still needed after that point, you must obtain a referral or prescription before continuing therapy. We can help refer you to an orthopedist that would be a good fit for you if you need one. (Some insurance plans may elect not to pay for physical therapy without a prescription in the first place. We’ll call your insurance company before your first appointment to verify that that they’ll pay and let you know if there are any issues.)
